Brave Earns Oscar Nomination After BAFTA Success

Hollywood's Biggest Night

The 85th Annual Academy Awards

Brave, the Pixar animated film set in a pre-historic Scottish kingdom, has earned an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Feature Film. The film, which has already won a BAFTA Award for Best Animated Film, will compete against Wreck-It Ralph, Frankenweenie, ParaNorman, and The Pirates! Band of Misfits for the Oscar.

The 85th Annual Academy Awards will be held at the Dolby Theatre at the Hollywood Highland Center on February 24, 2013. The ceremony will be hosted by Seth MacFarlane and will feature performances by Adele, Shirley Bassey, and Barbra Streisand.

In addition to Brave, several other films with Scottish connections are nominated for Oscars this year. These include Les Misérables, which is nominated for eight awards including Best Picture and Best Actor for Hugh Jackman; Amour, which is nominated for five awards including Best Picture and Best Foreign Language Film; and Moonrise Kingdom, which is nominated for four awards including Best Original Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor for Jared Gilman.

The Oscars are the most prestigious awards in the film industry, and a nomination is a major honor. We wish all of the Scottish-connected films the best of luck on Oscar night!
